Everyday Benefits is a small educational site. We collect as little as possible, and we never sell your information. Here's exactly what we collect and why.
What we collect
Newsletter email (only if you subscribe)
If you sign up for the newsletter, we store your email address with our email provider (Kit) and use it only to send you the newsletter. Every email includes an unsubscribe link — one click and you're out.
Anonymous plan numbers (only if you contribute them)
Our family plan chooser lets you voluntarily share your employer's health plan numbers (premiums, deductible, out-of-pocket maximum, coinsurance, HSA seed money) along with the employer name, plan name, and plan year. This data is stored anonymously and shown only in aggregate — medians appear only after at least 3 people contribute the same plan. No account, no name, and no sign-in is ever required.
Rate-limiting hash (automatic)
To prevent spam on the plan-data form, we store a one-way SHA-256 hash of your IP address (with a fixed prefix), limited to 10 submissions per hour. Your raw IP address is never stored and the hash can't be reversed to identify you.
Aggregate analytics (automatic)
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to see overall page views. It does not use cookies and does not collect personal information.
What we never collect
- Your name, address, or phone number
- Account numbers or plan documents
- Anything that identifies you from the calculators — your inputs stay in your browser and are never sent to us unless you explicitly click “Contribute” on the plan chooser
Your choices
- Newsletter: unsubscribe anytime via the link in any email.
- Contributed plan data: if you shared plan numbers and want them corrected or removed, email [email protected] with the employer and plan name and we'll take care of it.
Children
This site is written for adults managing employee benefits. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes
